Tomb of Eumenios Saridakis, Ethia
ABOUT
Eumenios Saridakis was born in 1931 in Ethia, Heraklion, Crete, and from a young age, he stood out for his humility and deep faith. He became a priest and served for many years at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases of Agia Varvara in Athens, where he devoted himself selflessly to caring for the suffering—especially those afflicted by leprosy and mental illness.
He was a spiritual student of Saint Nikephoros the Leper and later became a spiritual guide to countless people. He passed away on May 23, 1999.
He was canonised in 2022 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and his memory is commemorated every year on May 23.
His tomb in Ethia has become a place of prayer and pilgrimage, as many of the faithful find there comfort and a miraculous sense of peace.
