Astritsi: A Youthful Meeting Point
ABOUT
For years, Astritsi has been a gathering place for young people from across Greece, thanks to the Cultural Camping Festival. Held every summer in the Ai Giannis Gorge at Kato Vrysi, the event features a rich programme of activities and performances.
Kato Vrysi is a lush area known for its natural springs, once believed to feed the sacred River Triton of antiquity—an ancient tributary of today's Karteros River.
In the past, Astritsi had two large caves. One collapsed and has since been transformed into the village square. The other, Neraidospilios, still stands, though its shape has changed dramatically over time.
The Church of Agios Georgios, the village's main church, stands proudly at its centre.
Carved into the rock near Kato Vrysi is Agios Ioannis o Prodromos, the village’s first church, still standing quietly in the landscape.
