Roussochoria: A Village That Loves to Celebrate!
ABOUT
Roussochoria is an agricultural village, built across two hills.
At its centre stands the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, the village’s patron church. Every year, on 14 August, a festive evening is held in its honour, featuring traditional music, food and plenty of wine.
A little further north, in the village square, you will find a pine-shaded park with a playground and a well-kept green space at its centre, complete with a fountain and comfortable benches for visitors.
On the western edge of the settlement, the picturesque stone building of the old one-room village school is also worth seeing. The school ceased operating in 2004. From its beautiful tree-lined courtyard, visitors can enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding plain and the neighbouring hills.
You can also discover the small Church of Agia Fotini, outside which a small fair is held every year on 26 February, the saint’s feast day.
