Partira: A Village Square with a Carved Fountain
ABOUT
The mountain village of Partira is waiting to be explored. It's a place full of greenery, with quaint alleyways, and old traditional stone houses—some weathered by time, others carefully preserved.
You can enjoy moments of relaxation in the shaded square, with comfortable benches and a carved fountain built into the stone courtyard wall. Coffee and tasty meze are served in the village’s small cafés.
A stop at the Partira Museum of Rural Handicrafts is an absolute must.
In Partira, you’ll find the churches of Agios Panteleimonas, Agia Triada, Agia Marina, and the pilgrimage site of Panagia Kera. The village celebrates its local feasts on 28 May and 27 June.
Today’s residents of Partira trace their roots to Lasithi Plateau, Mohos, Mirabello, Ierapetra, and Asia Minor.
Beyond the village itself, the Community of Partira also includes the settlements of Mikra Episkopi, Badia, and Tourloti.
