Patsideros: With a View of the Libyan Sea

Cities & Villages

ABOUT

Patsideros is located at an altitude of 480 metres, built amphitheatrically on the eastern foothills of the hill, offering a unique view towards the Libyan Sea.

To the south of the village rises the honoured peak of Korakia, a place of historical significance that once sheltered Cretan partisans during World War II.

In the courtyard of the Byzantine church of Panagia, the ruins of a historic primary school — which operated during the late Ottoman period — can still be seen.

The village churches include Michail Archangelos (the main church), Agia Paraskevi, Agios Antonios, Panagia, and Agios Ioannis Prodromos (located in the Pyrgos area, just outside the village). The last three are old churches, with traces of frescoes still preserved.
