ABOUT

The church of Agios Rokkos is situated in the square of Splantzia in Chania. Erected in 1630, it may be connected to a plague epidemic, as Agios Rokkos was the designated patron saint of Chania during such outbreaks.

Throughout the Turkish occupation, the church served as a military outpost, and during the period of the Cretan State until 1925, it functioned as a gendarmerie station. It is noteworthy that the Turks held great respect for this church, likely due to their reverence for the Saint.

Today, the space is utilised for art exhibitions.
