Diktamos Gorge
ABOUT
Diktamos Gorge, also known as Katechori Gorge or Stylos Gorge, is one of the few gorges in Chania that does not run north to south.
It’s a lush and scenic gorge, with steep rock faces and a variety of Cretan flora, offering a rewarding hiking experience in nature.
The entrance is located in the village of Katechori, in the Municipality of Keramia, at an elevation of 300 metres, just 21 km from Chania.
The hike takes around three to four hours, and the exit is at the small settlement of Faraggi, at 40 metres elevation and 17 km from Chania, close to the main Chania–Stylos road.
The nearby village of Stylos is a charming spot, with abundant freshwater springs, towering plane trees, and old churches. It's also a great place to relax afterwards, with small local tavernas welcoming hikers.
