Sometimes, it’s not an exhibition that calls you – it’s a world.
With her latest visual proposal, “Colours of Love in Dreamlike Lands”, Maria Airam invites visitors not simply to view artworks, but to step across a threshold into another mode of being — where light, silence, and memory are not described, but experienced.
The setting: the historic Church of Agios Rokos in Splantzia, Chania.
A space where stone carries the breath of time and where every artistic gesture becomes a dialogue with the past — and the eternal.
In this space, the artist unfolds a unified experience of life and art — a journey through colour, language, and texture. Nothing here aims to impress; everything aims to shift something inside you.
The exhibition will feature:
• Paintings using mixed media
• Poetic landscapes
• Symbolic installations
• A new central piece titled “Artificial Intelligence”, a reflection on language, memory, and mechanical thought
• Site-specific interventions both inside and outside the church, transforming the space into a liminal field where everything can be said — without a word.
Maria Airam doesn’t create images — she creates conditions for encounters.
She turns the act of art into a silent act of resistance, and each work into a window toward possibility.
“My art is memory dancing with silence — a silent uprising within the noise of certainties. I don’t create to show something, but to remind us of what we’ve forgotten.”
Born and based in Chania, Maria Airam merges theatre, poetry and visual art into a single act of creation.
She has presented solo exhibitions and performances in festivals, city streets, and art spaces across Greece and abroad.
She founded Selini Art Café, a creative hub for intercultural dialogue, and teaches Existential Theatre — the Theatre of Presence.
Her work revolves around war, the environment, and the human condition — always carrying a fierce, aching hope.
