Abbas Gorge
ABOUT
The Abbas Gorge, located in the Municipality of Archanes Asterousia, is renowned for its remarkable 140-metre-high waterfall. This waterfall, the largest recorded in Crete, serves as a gathering point for the waters flowing from the surrounding villages of Amygdalos and Paranymfi.
Abbas is indeed a magnificent and challenging gorge that originates from a small plateau located south of the peak of Timios Stavros (710m). It winds its way between the peaks of Monopori (561m) and Kefala (610m) before eventually reaching the stunning Tris Ekklisies Beach.
The steep cliffs of the Abbas Gorge provide a habitat for a remarkable variety of raptors, making it home to the largest concentration of these birds in Greece.
