A Nymph's Name: Alagni
ABOUT
The village of Alagni received its name from the nymph Alagonia, who was the daughter of Zeus and Europa.
The temple of Alagonia was situated on the hill Tholi, and there is some evidence suggesting that its ruins can still be partially seen today.
A short distance away from Alagni is the area of Rouma, which was abandoned during a plague outbreak. The survivors then built their homes in Alagni. In the area of Rouma, you can find the Panagia of Rouma Church.
The area boasts olive oil mills and wineries.
Visitors can explore the Dome Fortress, an impressive hilltop landmark.
The Alagni area boasts several Byzantine churches, with the church of Agios Vlassis located near the larger church at the village's end.
