The Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos invites friends and members to an afternoon circular hike in the Elounda area, timed to coincide with the August full moon.

The route begins at Poros, and from there, hikers will make their way along the Kolokytha Peninsula. The highlight of the walk is reaching the top of Loutres hill, the highest point in the area, where you’ll wait for the full moon to rise just after 9 PM. The view over the Elounda Bay, bathed in moonlight, is nothing short of magical.

The hike to Kolokytha Beach takes you past the Mills and then along a dirt road to the small chapel of Agios Loukas, before ascending toward the summit.

You’ll return to the starting point via the same trail.

ESSENTIAL GEAR: Hiking boots or trail shoes, trekking pole, backpack, water, hat, snacks, and a flashlight.
DEPARTURE: From Agios Nikolaos (24 K. Karamanli Street, next to S/M Vasilopoulos), at 18:30 on Sunday.
HIKE DURATION: Around 2 hours (not including breaks).
LEADER / INFO: Leonidas Klontzas – +30 694 478 2507
