On Saturday, August 9th, 2025 at 21:00, the Kritsa Athletic Club is hosting the Mizithropita Festival in the courtyard of the Kritsa Primary School.

Live music for the evening will be provided by Manolis Alexakis and his band.

This is a celebration dedicated to one of the island’s best-loved traditional sweet treats — the famous “nerati” mizithropita, a thin pastry pie filled with soft mizithra cheese and scented with Cretan honey. Dozens of local women prepare these pies on the spot, in front of the guests, turning the whole event into a living showcase of Cretan culinary tradition.

It’s a village fair full of music, flavours, and summer spirit, held each August (though the date changes every year as it’s not tied to a religious holiday), always in the school courtyard and always with some of Crete’s finest musicians.

Time: 21:00
Entry: €17
