The Venetian Wells of Gavalochori
ABOUT
Gavalochori is a village with a rich history and tradition.
The visitor is invited to discover the 24 wells that date back to the years of Venetian rule in Crete (15th-16th century) and were still in use until recently.
These are simple circular structures of varying depth, constructed from sturdy dry stone. Some of the wells are sheltered by an arched structure, also built of dry stone. Connected to the complex is an arched Venetian bridge.

The tip of Local!
It is worth visiting this place if you are in the area, but be particularly cautious if you have young children, as the wells do not have protective railings and there is a risk of falling.
