Kastellos, Chania: Endless Natural Beauty!

Kastellos offers breathtaking panoramic views stretching from Georgioupoli to Petres in the north, across to Kournas in the west, and Fylaki in the east.

One of the highlights is the impressive azilakas forest, a serene natural setting perfect for exploration. To the south of the village, perched on a prominent elevation, lie the ruins of a koules—a watchtower built by the Ottomans after the Cretan revolution of 1866–1869 to monitor the mountain villages and control key passageways between them.

Kastellos also features beautifully restored traditional homes, many of which have been converted into guesthouses, offering visitors a quiet and authentic Cretan experience.
