Mount Apopigadi
ABOUT
Starting from the village of Semprona in the municipality of Platanias, there are several routes you can follow—either on foot or by 4x4 vehicle. A winding dirt road connects the villages of Semprona and Palea Roumata, and the highlight of this route is the ascent to the well-known Mount Apopigadi (1234m).
If you’re in a 4x4, you can make your way up to the top and take in the unobstructed views towards northern and western Chania. At the summit, you’ll find the small chapel of Agios Ioannis, built in 1873.
Mount Apopigadi is not among the tallest peaks in Chania, but it marks the westernmost edge of the White Mountains range. Its highest point is Agios Zinas, standing at 1330 metres.
