Volikas Refuge
ABOUT
The Volikas Refuge is located near the settlement of Kambos Keramion, on the northern side of the Lefka Ori, at an altitude of 1,400 metres.
As noted by the website unescositesincrete, it was founded in 1958 and is one of the oldest mountain refuges in Crete. Access is by a three-hour hike from Kambos.
Starting from the refuge and heading south, a trail passes by the peak of Spathi (2,048m) and continues towards Livada, where it joins the European E4 path, leading to the refuges of Katsiveli and Tavris. The Theriso trail also passes from this area, emerging west of Mavri Korfi (2,070m).
The refuge has the capacity to accommodate 30 people. For visits or reservations, it is recommended to contact the Chania Mountaineering Club.
