Church of Evangelistria in Chalepa
ABOUT
The church's foundation stone was laid on 8th October 1908. After 15 years of hard work, the inauguration took place on 12th August 1923. The late Metropolitan Agathangelos Ninolakis conducted the ceremony.
The local community put in significant effort to ensure the functioning of the church. In fact, it became a fundraising initiative in Orthodox communities abroad.
The Church of Evangelistria in Chalepa is the largest church in Chania.
The church has a cruciform design with a dome, and its striking blue colour easily catches the attention of passers-by.
