ABOUT

CretAquarium holds the distinction of being the largest aquarium in Greece and one of the Mediterranean's most expansive.

Embark on a tour of CretAquarium, where each tank is complemented by informative labels featuring the species' names in nine languages (Greek, English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Czech). As you navigate the various aquarium sections, interactive touch screens await, offering supplementary insights to enhance your understanding of the Mediterranean Sea.

Upon request, you have the option to partake in a guided tour led by the aquarium's specially trained staff. This guided experience, lasting approximately 1 hour, is available in both Greek and English.

Sixty-two tanks, over 2,000 marine organisms, and an endless array of questions await your exploration!

Should your love and curiosity for the Mediterranean's marine realm remain unquenched after your tour of CretAquarium's exhibits, you have the opportunity to delve behind the scenes into the concealed facets of the aquarium. This is where the daily operations unfold.

This is a special tour where you'll get a close look at the technology behind the aquarium's operations, see how the food is prepared, and observe the tank monitoring process.

You'll also get to see the ‘quarantine’ areas, where new animals are introduced to their environment before being placed in the tanks. These spaces are used to care for sick animals and to facilitate the reproduction and growth of specific organisms.

The specially trained staff of CretAquarium will be there to answer all your questions.

It's important to mention that CretAquarium is designed to be accessible and welcoming for individuals with disabilities. The space is easy to navigate, and there are facilities like accessible toilets available. Furthermore, a wheelchair can be provided at the reception if any visitor wishes to use one during their visit.
