ABOUT

Koudoumas Monastery is located 75 kilometres to the south of Heraklion, in the southern vicinity of Mt Kofina.

In front of the monastery, offering a stunning vista, there lies a splendid beach featuring fine pebbles and crystal-clear waters. Prior to visiting this beach, visitors should ensure they have attended to their essential needs as the beach lacks amenities. It's a perfect spot for swimming and moments of serenity.

Camping is permitted on the beach, and visitors have the option to spend the night in the caves where the hermits once resided.

The Koudoumas Monastery observes religious celebrations on 15th August and 10th July, attracting large crowds of devoted worshippers who spend the night on the beach.
