EOS Heraklion invites you to a day out exploring the Rosa and Embasa Gorges

Starting just beyond the village of Avdou (230m), this circular route will take us through two dramatically different gorges in the same area.

First up is the Rosa Gorge, which ends at Kera (680m). Expect striking geological formations and steep cliffs. The riverbed has a steep incline and the trail includes some narrow sections, but safety cables are in place to help you navigate the exposed parts.

Then there’s the Embasa Gorge, which starts at Kato Kera and descends gently to Gonies (285m). This path winds through lush greenery, dominated by plane trees and oaks, and follows a smooth, easy trail.
