The Filonideios Cultural and Beautification Association of Limenas Hersonissos invites you to a spectacular Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, taking place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM, in the square of Evangelistria Church at Limenas Hersonissou. 

This marks the official start of the holiday season with a joyful celebration for children and adults alike, full of music, fun activities and Christmas magic.

Santa Claus will be there with his sleigh and gifts, ready to take pictures with the little ones and spread smiles all around.

Children can enjoy the playful and creative “messy play” corner hosted by Maria Mouratidou and Griselda Dretsa, as well as balloon creations from festive animators, and face painting provided by the Parents’ Association of the 1st & 2nd Primary Schools of Limenas Hersonissou.

Expect sweets, treats, and the famous warm mulled wine served in a beautifully decorated space by the Vritomartys Association.

DJ Manos Spanakis will set the mood with a festive soundtrack for the evening.

The atmosphere will turn truly Cretan with Kostis Veligkrantakis on the lyra, accompanied by his musicians and the dance groups of both children and adults from the local association. They’ll perform Cretan dances and carols, together with the Lazaros & Manolis Chnaris Folklore Group, adding a traditional flavour to the celebration.

There will also be modern Christmas dance performances by Nicola West and her students.

And of course, souvlaki and drinks will be available on-site, provided by the local association.

Expect a few surprises throughout the evening!

Local schools and community groups will also be taking part with stands offering handmade sweets and other creations:

• General High School of Limenas Hersonissou

• Kindergarten of Ano Hersonissos

• Parents’ Association of the Primary School of Ano Hersonissos

• Vritomartys Women’s Association
