On Sunday, 16 November 2025, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos is organising a circular hike for its members—or for those who wish to become members—through the above locations.

"We’ll begin just past the small chapel of Agios Ioannis Theologos in Kritsa and enter the gorge. At some point we’ll follow an old trail that leads us uphill to the plateau of Platovolo Theologou. From there, we’ll keep climbing along a faint path to reach ‘Kato Limnes’, where you’ll find old wells and the remains of an abandoned settlement. A bit further up, we’ll walk through a forest to reach ‘Skoteina Lakkakia’, a WWII-era hideout used by resistance fighters and Allied troops. From there, we’ll descend towards Kroustas, eventually looping back to our starting point," says the organisers’ announcement.

ESSENTIALS: hiking boots, trekking poles, water, snacks, hat and sunscreen—or a raincoat, depending on the weather.

DEPARTURE: from Agios Nikolaos, at 24 Konstantinou Karamanli St. (in front of S/M Vassilopoulos), at 8:00 AM on Sunday. Transportation to the trailhead will be with our own cars. Please contribute €5 to the driver.
