On the occasion of International Migrants Day (18/12), the Migrant Integration Centre of Chania Municipality is organising an exhibition titled “My Homeland in a Suitcase”—a tribute to the personal stories behind every journey.

The exhibition opens on December 15, 2025, at 10:00 at Giali Tzamisi. From December 15 to 19, visitors will see personal items belonging to fellow citizens from various countries who now live in Chania.

Each object is paired with a passage from Greek tradition, literature or poetry, forming a symbolic dialogue between individual cultural experiences and the collective memory of the place.

The goal is to highlight the human and cultural richness enclosed in these modest life tokens, and to spark reflection on the ideas of homeland, identity, and movement.

Through these very personal stories, the exhibition reminds us that each suitcase carries much more than things—it carries memories, emotions, roots, and dreams.

This is an open invitation to everyone: to get to know one another better through our journeys and to reflect on what connects us.

🕙 Opening Hours:
Monday–Wednesday: 10:00 – 13:00
Thursday & Friday: 10:00 – 13:00, 18:00 – 20:00
