Hiking the Sarakina Gorge
ABOUT
Sarakina Gorge is located in the village of Mythi, about 20 kilometres from Ierapetra. It stretches for approximately 1.5 kilometres.
This is an easily accessible gorge, perfect for hiking and a great option for a family outing.
Crossing it takes around 1.5 hours, with the width ranging from 3 to 10 meters and the canyon walls reaching up to 150 meters in height.
The gorge has water all year round. In fact, in some parts, you’ll need to walk through the water, and climbing over rocks in the riverbed is part of the adventure.
