Cities & Villages

ABOUT

The town of Alikianos, nestled in an exceptionally picturesque region, peacefully resides in the lush surroundings, surrounded by olive orchards and seemingly endless orange groves. It is located adjacent to the refreshing waters of the Keritis River, alongside the towering plane trees that thrive on its banks.

The town's iconic feature is the Keritis stone bridge, which has stood for over a century and is a truly remarkable architectural monument. Just a short distance away, you'll find the Keritis Monument, where the remains of Alikianos' residents executed by the Germans are preserved. Alikianos serves as the focal point for the annual commemoration of the Battle of Crete on 21st May each year.

Don't pass up the chance to savour the delectable offerings of Cretan cuisine and enjoy a coffee at the town's tavernas and cafés.
