ABOUT
Nikos Xylouris, also known as the Archangel of Crete, was born in Anogia on 7th July, 1936, and passed away from cancer on 8th February 1980.
His significant contributions to the promotion of traditional Cretan music and his stance against the junta (1967-1974) made him a symbol of courage not only for Crete but beyond.
In Anogia, a place that takes great pride in him, you can explore his house. The spirit of Nikos Xylouris lives on through photographs, publications, and other materials documenting his life and work.
