This historic municipality, nestled on the slopes of Mt Psiloritis at an altitude exceeding 790 metres, carries a unique legacy and a special place in history.

This village boasts a remarkable musical heritage, being the birthplace of the ‘Archangel of Crete’, Nikos Xylouris.

Anogia is renowned for its loom textiles, bridal trousseau items, and the warm hospitality of its residents, who primarily engage in livestock farming and agriculture.

Anogia's allure is encapsulated in its two central squares. A visit to the Skinakas Observatory and paying homage to Agios Yakinthos are considered 'musts,' particularly during the 'Yakinthia' music festival held in the first week of July.

During the winter months, Anogia takes on an enchanting appearance as it adorns itself in white, showcasing its inherent beauty.
