ABOUT

For Anogia, and beyond, the chapel of Agios Yakinthos serves as a symbol of faith and love.

Once, the renowned composer Manos Hatzidakis and then-mayor Giorgis Klados decided to organise lyra competitions in the area.

Over the years, the events evolved, and with the contribution of Loudovikos of Anogia, they took the form of a special festival called Yakinthia – a unique cultural event for the region. Each year, thousands of people gather in the stone theatre of Agios Yakinthos, eager to experience the magic that permeates the area.

The church, constructed in 1998, reflects late Minoan architecture.

It's worth noting that St Hyacinth is revered by the Orthodox Church as the saint of love.
