The church commemorates its feast day on 27th August.
Every year, numerous believers undertake a 30-kilometre pilgrimage from Chania to worship at the church.
Agios Fanourios is credited with numerous miracles.

Standing proudly outside the community shop of Sellia in the Municipality of Apokoronas is a bust commemorating a notable figure from the region.
This is Nikolaos Papadakis, also known as Daskalonikolas (1870-1944), who valiantly fought against the Ottomans in both Crete and Epirus.
As inscribed on the bust, he served as a volunteer chieftain, and his fellow villagers continue to honour his contributions to the struggles for freedom.
