The statue of Chieftain Michael Meladakis was unveiled in November 2023 at the Central Square of Asi Gonia, Meladiana.

Michael Meladakis was born in Asi-Gonia in 1889. He fought as a volunteer in the Macedonian Struggle during the years 1906 – 1907, and later led volunteer corps in the struggle for the liberation of northern Epirus from 1913 – 1914. He tragically fell during an armed battle on 23^rd April 1914 in Koritsa.
