Agouseliana: Unveiling the Myth of the Hidden Treasure

The village is situated on a small plain, connecting with the plain of Koxares.

The residents of Agouseliana are known for breeding peacocks.

The village boasts a lending library.

The area surrounding the village is rich in fragments of horn-roofed tombs and vases dating back to the Hellenistic and Roman eras.

According to tradition, hidden treasures are said to lie within the area of Markarina, which was once the estate of Marco of Peace (Markos tis irinis), from which Markarina derives its name. Illegal excavations have been sporadically conducted in attempts to uncover these supposed treasures. Additionally, within the vicinity, lies the unexplored cave known as Neraidotrypa.

Towards the southern part of the village, nestled at the foot of the mountains, remnants of church walls adorned with Byzantine frescoes can be found, notably those of Agia Marina and Agios Stefanos.
