The 8th N.S. Art Festival, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Rethymno, invites you on Wednesday 12 November 2025 at 7 p.m. to a guided tour of the Contemporary Art Exhibition titled: "Kannavos" (as trace, space, frame, boundary, utopia…) held at the House of Culture from 15 October to 22 November 2025.

In the exhibition, 40 artists from Greece and Cyprus, many of them Fine Arts professors, engage in a dialogue with the idea and atmosphere of a defined, bounded, and marked-out space—conceptual or otherwise—emitting an urgent SOS.

In a world where people are locked inside the cells of virtual reality, isolated in the suffocating bubble of individualism, the exhibition reflects our growing unease about the human condition in the 21st century, where the "safe distance" between citizens has become the ultimate excuse.

The grid of boundaries and competitive space defines zones of confinement or supposed freedom. Our existential compass speaks and dances. It seeks and avoids. It clashes and turns a blind eye. It remembers and forgets. Ultimately, it observes the bleeding wound, within a make-believe lab of coexistence.
