A technical descent of the Erganos Gorge (canyoning) is being organised by EOS Heraklion on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, for participants who have either attended EOS Heraklion’s canyoning courses or have relevant canyoning experience.
“Once a year, volunteers from EOS Heraklion, along with friends from other clubs, gather to clean up one of Crete’s gorges, so we can continue enjoying the nature we love. It’s not just a practical action, but also one aimed at raising awareness and encouraging stronger connections between the local community and the natural environment.
This year, the clean-up will take place in the stunning Erganos Gorge. Mostly open along its entire length, the gorge narrows towards the end, offering seven large descents, the tallest of which is 25 metres. There’s usually running water here until early summer. The rock formations shaped by water are nothing short of spectacular,” the organisers note.
