Adventure & Action

On Sunday, May 18, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos is heading out to explore the "metochia" of Myrsini, the charming balcony-village known for its stunning views over the Cretan Sea.

As the club describes:
“In collaboration with the local Cultural Association, we’ll begin our descent along a dirt road that circles the village, offering views of the impressive Kastella rock. From there, those who feel up to it will hike further down to Chalinomouri, right by the wild, mysterious coastline. The rest of the group will wait at the Venetian Tower of Kornaros. We’ll all regroup and continue to the chapels of Analipsi and Agios Dimitrios, then ascend back to the village via the old kalderimi. We’ll stroll through its picturesque alleyways, cross the village to Agia Marina, and end up at the Kefalovrysi spring.”

Bring with you: hiking/athletic shoes, trekking poles, windbreaker, sunscreen, and snacks.
Departure: from Agios Nikolaos, 24 Karamanli St. (S/M Vasilopoulos) at 08:00 AM. If you're heading directly to the village, be at the entrance of Myrsini by 08:45 AM.
