From July 1 to July 4, 2025, the annual exhibition of the Children’s Art Classes of the Art Workshop SCHEDiA will be hosted at the Multipurpose Hall of the Municipal Art Gallery of Heraklion (8 Chrysostomou Street). This year’s theme is “Faces and Facades”, and it's the 17th edition of this much-loved creative event.
The exhibition presents 320 artworks—including paintings, collages, and sculptures—created by 68 young artists aged 5 to 15. With bold colours and heartfelt expression, the children bring to life portraits, emotions, and impressions across different formats and surfaces, inviting us to explore the imaginative and sensitive world through their eyes.
Opening day is Tuesday, July 1st at 18:00, featuring a welcome speech by Eleni Maraki-Beladaki, Special Advisor on Education and Lifelong Learning for the Region of Crete. During the opening, students completing their 4th and 5th year of attendance at SCHEDiA will receive awards.
Throughout the exhibition, there will be interactive events and theatrical activities under the visual arts program “Emotions”, hosted on site for public and private kindergartens and nurseries, with free admission:
-
Wednesday 2/7, 11:00 – 14:00
-
Thursday 3/7, 11:00 – 14:00
-
Friday 4/7, 11:00 – 14:00
The closing celebration takes place on Friday, July 4th at 18:00.
Under the auspices of the Region of Crete, the exhibition includes the interactive theatre game “The Hat That Could Hear Thoughts…” by the animation team Th.P. Yasemia, and all participating students will be awarded.
Dimitra Milathianaki, visual artist, is responsible for both the art instruction and curation of the exhibition.
