The Municipality of Sitia, placing special emphasis on promoting its local gastronomic culture, is organizing a Two-Day Gastronomy Event as part of the Summer Cultural Events "Kornareia 2025", offering a rich exploration of the region’s culinary identity.

The event includes the following highlights:

- 13 August, 19:00, Central Square of Sitia:
Sitia Cuisine Festival with the "Chrysocheres" ("Golden Hands").
The "Chrysocheres" are the true stars of Sitia's traditional cuisine, the key guardians who preserve and pass it on. These are the household cooks — mothers, grandmothers, and aunts — who will share with us, in their own authentic way, traditional Sitia recipes that have survived through time.

Joining them will be renowned chef Dina Nikolaou and Lena Igoumenaki, President of the Cretan Cuisine Festival Association.

- 14 August, 19:00, Ecomuseum of the Municipality of Sitia (former KEGE), in the olive grove:
With the participation of Mrs. Chrysa Sofianou, there will be a revival of Minoan cooking techniques, using Minoan vessels and ingredients from that era.

The event will be followed by an interactive symposium, accompanied by a scientific analysis of the Cretan-Minoan diet, supported by ELMEPA (Hellenic Mediterranean University).
