The Sandy Beaches of Kalives: Tranquil Beauty and Convenient Amenities

The Sandy Beaches of Kalives: Tranquil Beauty and Convenient Amenities

Nestled within a lush and fertile green valley, the village is blessed by the convergence of three rivers. One kilometre north of Kalives, at the mouth of the Kiliaris River, lies the tranquil beach of Kiani Akti or Glaros. On the eastern side of the village, the rivers Xidas and Mesopotamos gracefully flow.

These rivers have a continuous flow of water throughout the year, and in combination with numerous springs that gush into the sea, they keep the sea water cool. To the east and west of the Xidas River, there are two stunning sandy beaches with shallow waters. These beaches are well-equipped and provide all the necessary amenities and services for tourists. They are susceptible to northern winds. A beautiful bridge spans the Xidas River, connecting the two beaches. Adjacent to Maistrali beach, you will find the picturesque harbour of Kalives.

Kalives is conveniently connected to Chania by bus.
