Stavrochori – Chandras: Follow the Path

Nature Activities / Hiking-Trekking

ABOUT

The Stavrochori-Chandras route, spanning a distance of 25 kilometres, is ideal for an enjoyable bike excursion. Starting from Stavrochori, you'll ascend on an asphalt road, and after 4 kilometres, you'll arrive at the village of Chrisopigi.

As you continue on the asphalt road, you'll come across the church of Agia Irini, and the route begins to incline uphill. Shortly thereafter, you'll spot the village of Dafni, situated at an elevation of 580 metres. This section of the E4 European Path in Crete is relatively easy, mainly following dirt roads and asphalt.

From Dafni, you head east, and by traversing dirt roads and pathways, you'll reach the remote village of Vori.

Subsequently, you continue to Papayannades, passing through the Chandras wind farm.

Lastly, in close proximity to Chandras (approximately 1 kilometre away), you'll discover the fascinating abandoned medieval settlement and the Voila Castle.

We arrive in Etia, where you must not miss the Venetian mansion.

Within the village, you can find a guesthouse, apartments for overnight accommodation, and small restaurants where you can enjoy meals.
