Do you want to see how the famous Cretan spirit is made?
The remains of the pressed grapes are sealed in barrels and, once fermentation is complete, they are ready for distillation.
In every village, there are special cauldrons where the grape remnants and the liquid from the barrels are placed. They are sealed airtight and boiled until the temperature reaches the right point for distillation to begin. From the lid of the cauldron starts a pipe, which is cooled externally with water, so that the steam produced turns into liquid and comes out as raki.
