Lasinthos Eco Park: Turn Wool into Thread!

The art of Cretan weaving is still alive today, passed down through the knowledge of countless generations of women who processed their own raw materials—wool, flax, cotton, and silk—and dyed the threads with natural colours made from plant roots, flower petals, tree bark, or even fireplace ash.

Take part in a hands-on workshop and follow the process of turning wool into thread on the loom. Learn how to weave the thread into textiles, clothing, bags, and wall hangings!

The space also hosts a wide selection of traditional Cretan handicrafts, as well as one of the oldest working looms still in use in Crete.
