Cross the Agia Irini Gorge in Heraklion
ABOUT
As we follow the course of the Knossano Gorge, we come across a church, and then ascend to encounter the Fourni Forest.
The Fourni Forest is a compact man-made woodland situated on Kefala Hill, adjacent to the village of Kato Archanes.
Despite its modest size, the forest is densely populated with pine and cypress trees, and it boasts several trails that are perfect for hiking and mountain biking. Moreover, the archaeological site along the trail is well worth a visit.
Subsequently, you'll encounter signs that guide you along the route to the summit of Yiouchtas, rising to an elevation of 811 metres.
You have the option to return from the same starting point, or alternatively, you can follow the route marked on the map, which takes you through Anemospilio and then through the vineyards in the vicinity.
