The Church of Panagia in Roussospiti
ABOUT
In the charming village of Roussospiti, also known as 'the balcony of Rethymno', visitors can light a candle to the Virgin Mary.
It is a small single-aisled church.
It was constructed in the early 14th century and subsequently expanded to the west with a taller narthex.
Parts of a monument or tomb that it once housed are still preserved.
The Crucifixion of Christ is among the best-preserved frescoes in the church, showcasing one of the most dynamic expressions of Cretan art.
