Prasses, Rethymno: Admire the Striking Venetian Structures!

Cities & Villages

ABOUT

In the village of Prasses, in the Municipality of Rethymno, you'll come across some truly impressive Venetian buildings, with the old Venetian aqueduct—featuring a fountain and troughs—standing out as a highlight.

At the site of Kastrí, there's a large Late Minoan settlement, with signs of later Geometric and post-Geometric habitation. You can also see the remains of three "kouledes"—small fortress-like towers.

East of the village is the entrance to the Prassano Gorge, a natural haven with unique flora and fauna. Bordering the village of Chromonastiri, another gorge awaits, known as an “Endless Forest” of olive trees and low vegetation. The area is also known for its numerous caves.
