Pigi, Rethymno: A Blend of Quality and Elegance
ABOUT
Pigi derives its name from a spring located beside the Pigianos or Pigio river, which was unfortunately destroyed by the Santorini earthquake and subsequently dried up.
In Pigi, you'll find one of the largest churches among the surrounding villages, Agios Nikolaos, boasting a history of around a century. Remarkably, this church remained untouched during the German bombings.
The charming village square is graced by the Monument of the fallen in Pigi and St Demetrios, commemorating their valiant efforts in the significant battles of the 20th century.
Maria's café serves as a daily reminder of Cretan hospitality and tradition. In the village, you'll discover everything you need, from accommodation options to refined restaurants and shops offering essential goods.
