Metaxochori: the village of a Patriarch

Cities & Villages

ABOUT

Metaxochori is a small village with few inhabitants and is located 4 km west of the village of Christos at an altitude of 600 meters.

The village was renamed in 1955 from Parsas to Metaxochori in honor of the Ecumenical Patriarch Meletios Metaxakis, who was born here.

The village has good infrastructure, a renovated school, a memorial to the fallen, beautiful old and new churches and the bust of Patriarch Meletios Metaxakis.

You can admire the wonderful natural landscapes and the view of the mountain peaks, which combined with the nice healthy climate and the incredible silence, disturbed only by the voices of the animals, create a relaxing atmosphere.
