Malles: Gateway to Nature Trails
ABOUT
The village of Malles is one of the largest in Crete.
Nestled on a green slope north of the Sarantapicho River valley, it boasts an exceptional location, offering unobstructed views of the Myrtos valley, the Libyan Sea, and the encompassing mountain summits, surrounded by vast olive groves.
An ideal destination for nature enthusiasts, it serves as a meeting point for those seeking diverse nature trails, whether towards the pine forest of Selakano or the plateau of Katharo and the springs of Retikos.
One can pay a visit to the monastery of Panagia Exakousti.
Preserved in the neighbouring hills are the ruins of the acropolis of ancient Malla, where Arthur Evans discovered remnants of a Mycenaean fortification.
