Christ: built on hidden slopes
ABOUT
The village of Christos with its breathtaking mountainous landscape, the forest of Selakanos that is its jewel and the two rivers that flow alongside it, is a place of awe, peace and tranquility.
According to local legends, in the eleventh century AD, the first settlers of Christ observed with fascination a light shining at night in a certain part of the mountain, and after searching, they found an image of Christ among the bushes. Since then they have decided to give the area its current name.
The picturesque alleys and cobbled streets inside the village that remain unchanged in time betray the history of the village, while the chapel of Agia Paraskevi just outside the village, with its beautiful square, its abundant water and plane trees, and the tavern that operates there all year round, is one of the most beautiful parts of the village.
