Chora Sfakion serves as the administrative centre of the municipality of Sfakia, which is the least densely populated municipality in Greece.
In addition to the renowned southern beaches of Chania, which use the port of Sfakia as their starting point, Chora Sfakion offers a blend of attractions, situated near the end of the Imbros Gorge.
Sfakia revolves around the authentic traditions of Crete. This region boasts an array of hiking trails, delectable cuisine including the renowned Sfakian pies drizzled with honey, as well as the flavourful Sfakian ‘giachni’ with lamb, and rusks. No matter what you choose to experience or wherever you venture, you're bound to encounter something truly unique.

Other stunning beaches include Agia Pelagia, featuring its own church, and Vatalos. Heading east, towards the road to Skaloti, you'll find the hang-gliding take-off run on the right side of the road. Surrounded by ancient olive groves, the village is situated north of the exit of the Manikas Gorge.
A new stone church dedicated to St Emmanuel of Sfakia stands proudly, inviting visitors to its festival on 21st August. To the west, just before the village begins, lies the dirt road leading to Manikas. Skaloti is also home to the seaside settlement of Lakki, boasting its splendid beaches.
In Lakki, you'll discover accommodation options and charming tavernas. Continuing east from the junction leading to Lakki will lead you to the easternmost tip of the municipality of Sfakia, where you'll discover the stunning beaches of Agia Marina and Livada, accompanied by a charming taverna.
