With two events open to all, for young and old alike – a Cretan carnival feast and the Koulouma of Clean Monday – the Municipality of Heraklion brings the Carnival season to a close and welcomes the beginning of Lent.

More specifically, on Sunday 22 February 2026, at 19:00, at Lions Square, a carnival celebration will take place with traditional Cretan music performed by Manolis Plaïtis on the lyra, Giorgos Kollaros on the laouto, Giorgos Armutidis on the mandolin, and Stelios Anetakis on the laouto.

On Clean Monday, 23 February, at 12:00, at Karavolas, the Koulouma celebration and the start of Lent will be held, with plenty of Lenten delicacies offered free of charge to all participants.
