“The Walk”: New Exhibition at the Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts

On Saturday 14 February 2026 at 6.00pm, the exhibition titled “The Walk” opens at the Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts.

This is a group exhibition, mainly featuring visual artists. For the first time, it also includes and presents the creative element of a literary description in short story form.

This combined format grew out of the desire to offer those who may not have the knowledge or ability to express a thought or image through drawing and colour the chance to explore it through writing — with the colours that words give to literature.

What is especially pleasing is that this proposal found supporters. A distinct and significant part of the exhibition will be dedicated to this genre.

As for the “walk” itself, each artist or writer presents their own interpretation — whether in a literal sense or through a deeper allegorical meaning drawn from personal experience. Routes, journeys, and fleeting moments are captured in ways that clearly convey the feeling each creator wishes to share on this theme.

Well-known and emerging artists alike take part, offering their perspective within the Museum space. Visitors are invited to engage, reflect and form their own view, strengthening interest in this artistic dialogue.

The same applies to the literary contributions on display, which we believe our visitors will appreciate. This is, in any case, an experiment undertaken by the Museum, offered to its audience in the belief that it presents a complete and thoughtful version of what a group exhibition on a shared theme can be.
